Its about time, but the furniture is in and it fits. The sofa just barely squeaked through the door, so its a good thing I didn't listen to my landlord and try moving when I still had a narrow door.

Some pictures of light snow. This is one of the main reasons I felt I needed a car. But of course, this is nothing compared to what will come in two months or so.

Wow, you know there is something wrong when an economist and bureaucrat from a communist country tells you that your government is too interventionist!

From The Standard newspaper in Hong Kong:

Yi, writing in Ming Pao Thursday, said Hong Kong's economic integration with the mainland was inevitable. But he called on Hong Kong to hold on to its laissez-faire principles in the process, arguing that those principles had served as a guiding example for the mainland's own dramatic liberalization and development over the past three decades.

"The laws of market economics not only allowed Hong Kong's economy to reach spectacular heights, but was also the key to the success of China's reform and opening in the 1970s and 1980s," wrote Yi, the author of about a dozen books on Chinese economic markets.

Yi warned that "Hong Kong's policies and actions are gradually straying from the principles of a free economic market."

I finally picked up the car! Say hi to the newest member of the family.

ARRRGGHHH!!! I finally chose a car near the beginning of this month, a Mazda3 hatchback, and yesterday the dealership called me to tell me that I could pick it up today. I forgot that I need to arrange insurance, and of course, the insurance office isn't open on Saturday, so I don't get a chance to take delivery after all. Pics and write up to come once I do get hold of my car.

I waste a lot of psychic energy getting upset over what the government decides to do or not do, especially in education and taxation (must.. not.. start.. yelling.. about.. G.. S.. T....), but a comment from the environmental protection department really sent me over the edge yesterday.

Now that the weather is starting to cool, its time to start looking for a car. I originally thought about a Ford Focus because you get a stunning amount of features and a decent driving car for the price, but it just feels like too aged a design. Lately, I've been considering a Honda Fit (which I still call the Honda Jazz every once in a while because that's what its called in HK, where it has been out since 2002 or so). Here are some bad phone pics of the ones available at the Honda dealer closest to me.

Wow, I've been diligent about adding photo-diary entries lately. I guess that shows how much free time I've gained from moving closer to work. That seems to be a trend for me. Unfortunately, there's not much to do downtown on a Sunday, so here are some things I saw while wandering around.

I finally got around to renting an apartment and here is a look at it... I'm on the second floor (no elevator of course) in a small building with apartments on top of shops. There is no parking, but that works out for me since I haven't gotten around to buying a car yet either. My space is above a hair salon.
